We recently lost a friend of ours, Stephen T. McElvarr, after he fought a brave year-long battle with cancer.
The love and care of animals was one of Steve’s greatest passions, and he left a generous donation to DogsHome, telling us, “I love the work you are doing and wanted to help you continue that work.”
Steve first heard about DogsHome through his sister, Tina McElvarr, one of our long-time supporters. He was especially touched by the story of Frankie, a little Shih Tzu mix we rescued who had a host of medical problems. One of the last things Steve told us was that he had been “so happy to be able to help with Frankie’s veterinary needs.”
Steve taught fifth grade at Boothwyn Elementary School in Delaware County throughout his 30-year career. He dedicated his life to helping others – people and animals – and he will be sorely missed.
But Steve’s legacy will live on through the work we do at DogsHome, rescuing dogs in urgent need of help and providing them with all the love and care they require to live happy, healthy lives.
DogsHome is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue organization. If you’re interested in making a legacy (or other) donation, please contact us at ContactUs@dogshomepa.org or click the link to donate now: https://www.dogshomepa.org/donate/
