Our dogs mean everything to us.
But if we’re going to be completely honest, there are probably just a few things we’d like to change, right?
Last week, I talked about 3 Things Our Dogs Wish We Would Do. This time around, we’re going to flip it. In other words, it’s our turn! What are the 3 things we wish our dogs would do?
Now this list is highly personal — I know yours will be different from mine.
My list is based on nearly a decade with a dog who has put me through the wringer with her reactive behavior toward dogs and people.
She’s broken 2 of my fingers, dislocated my shoulder, wrenched my back more times than I can count, and dragged me face down through the mud. And that’s just to name a few.
In short, she’s frustrated me, hurt me, and humiliated me. She’s also been my comfort, my joy, my friend, my student and my teacher … and I wouldn’t trade her for any dog in the word!
So here goes:
1. Just once, I wish I could take you for a walk without having to spin my head around like an owl constantly looking out for other dogs approaching.
2. I get that you’re a dog, and I realize we have different ideas about what smells and tastes delicious. But I really wish you’d stop eating goose poop (or deer, rabbit, etc.) at every opportunity.
3. I wish you’d live forever. Because I can’t imagine going through life without my best friend at my side.
